I believe ecologically and psychologically people need plants to be satisfied and well adjusted. Plants purify the air, add moisture to the atmosphere, stop soil erosion, build fertility in the soil by adding organic matter. They provide shade and cooling effect, screen unsightly views, muffle noise, attract birds and wildlife, offer shelter and food for predators. They provide beauty and fragrance; they provide colorful variety by changing through the seasons and they provide edible food and medicine to sustain us. There is also the simple joy and satisfaction from watching plants grow.
